Comic #108 - A Post-Indrajal Phantom Sunday(Capt. Amazon - Pirate Queen; 1989)

 Enjoy a old Phantom strip(S134) in color and in Bengali. In this tale of 5th Phantom(aka Aranyadev), it has been shown how a gentle,beautiful lady transformed in a dreaded pirate queen - Captain Amazon! Later she became the wife of 5th Phantom!
 The most famous quote(of Juliet) probably was "Call us pirates! Then we'll be Pirates"!!

Between,the colored pages are from famous magazine Desh. This strip ran for 24 weeks but I have only 18 sundays till now,missing remaining 6..
 So I did two things,firstly used English b/w strips to fill the gap and then translated those in Bengali. Hopefully you will like the effort!(I have tried to bring the feel of Desh in those pages albeit the colors! as unfortunately I have the b/w English version only.)

 And for the Indrajal addicts, this is a special strip as with this one,the Post-Indrajal era was started off (the last sunday appeared in Indrajal was S133 "Death from the Sky"  in Vol.26 No.41). Had Indrajal survived for another extra month,we might had this very nice story in the pages of one of the most famous comic-magazines! 

 There were 45 Phantom sundailies(by Falk) from the Post-Ijc era but only very few were worth reading....this one was among those very few!

(Carefully look @the 2nd & 3rd panels of the following page.Indrajal skipped these(in V25 N18-19:Raiders from Amaland) where it has been mentioned Hero as well as (for the first time)Devil's origin!While Hero was introduced in a old daily strip(by Falk himself),for Devil,that concept was originally from an Egmont classic : Devil's Story aka 'Deviler Golpo' - published by Dev Sahitya Kutir in their short-yet-successful Aranyadev series on 2003!)

Enjoy some more of the old unedited Aranayadev aka Phantom sunday pages from the Desh magazine of '80s,and this time starting with the colored sundays! If we compare with the Indrajal's inking with these pages,of course they fell short,and moreover,these are in original format with all of the 8 panels(per sunday) while Indrajal versions were always edited to fit in their restricted page-format!

BENGALI Phantom Sunday-Strip Pages(Batch 1)

Continuing from the previous post on the Bengali version Phantom's original Sunday pages,from now onwards,I'll keep posting several strip pages published in those two magazines,Desh & Anandamela.
As majority of the Indian Phans are primarily Indrajal fans,so let's split these strips in the three following categories(according to their publication history):

• Post-Indrajal Falk Sundays(S134 - S150)
• Post-Falk Sundays(S151 onwards)

Some Bengali Phantom/Mandrake Covers & vintage Strips...

These are from my old scans which I did few months back!! Besides some vintage Bengali Phantom/Mandrake Indrajal covers,I'm attaching a couple of pages of Bengali Phantom Sundays from a old magazine.....watch out for the fabulous coloring(despite the books are more than 20 years old & I haven't done any editing!!)

Actually,I have planned to scan more such stuffs but my scanner not working since long...hopefully things will be fixed soon!! :-)
